postheadericon Our New Project

Our Own Outdoor Pizza Oven.           Slab just poured

There is a new project we have started at home, we are building an outdoor pizza oven and have finally poured the slab Hooray!!

At last we have begun to build the base, four layers high made from besser bricks and mortar.  I now have immense respect for bricklayers.  My back was aching after just a few hours of brick laying.  Well it got dark so we have had to pack up, we will finish the walls next weekend.  Geoff and I are quite pleased with our efforts.

The base is now complete and we await a metal frame to be constructed on top to start fitting the AC sheet, the insulation and the fire bricks.  Then finally the oven on top. Waiting, waiting, waiting,  but finally the young man has done his welding magic and the frame is complete.

WOW!!! We have finally fitted the AC sheet, the insulation blocks and the fire bricks.  Now when the rain stops for long enough we can add the Pizza oven on top, then do the rendering.  I am studying up on the techniques of rendering and how to mosaic tile the outer surface, not sure if I will end up with "art" or or dog's dinner.  But I intend to give it a go.
